Retreats

Seven people sit in a semi circle in a room with wood plank walls and tall windows. They are giving their attention to one person and smiling or laughing.
In the foreground are some interlocking metal rings of a whirligig. In the background is a large barn with two people talking together in front of it. It is a bright sunny day.

Thank you for leading our staff retreat on Tuesday! Your thoughtfulness and care were evident in each practice.

-Staff of Church of the Savior

At our recent church council retreat, we had the pleasure of having Christina lead our group in contemplation, prayer, and grounding practices. She did a wonderful job creating an atmosphere that positively transformed the way that we then approached the difficult and contentious topic we were there to discuss. As a group we look back at that weekend feeling a deeper sense of unity despite our differences in opinions, and I credit that to the practices that Christina introduced and led us in.

Retreat Leader

I lead in-person retreats for a half day, full day, or longer--you provide the people and the place. I work with groups of 5 to 15 people--perfect for a group of friends, a bible study group, ministry staff, or any other group you want to pull together.

I plan retreats with a rhythm of alternating time alone and time in the group. I aim for a space where you can connect with the Divine and with each other. Participate at your own pace and level; there is no pressure to perform or produce.

What Kind of Retreat?

Generally I will work with one member of a group to customize the experience to what you want or need. Here are some examples of previous retreat themes:

  • Spiritual Practices: After I provide an explanation and resources, you have ample time to spend in practices like prayer, rest, silence, solitude, and contemplation.

  • Names for God: I provide various resources and practices to explore the names you use for God: what has been helpful (or not) in the past, and what name(s) might invite you to a changing and growing relationship with God.

  • Prayerful Planning: Intended for ministry teams and church staff, this retreat provides space to prayerfully plan the next year, season, or program. There is time for prayer and discernment individually and as a group.

  • Discernment: For church leadership boards or other groups who want to frame a difficult discussion or decision with spiritual practices. The practices provide a way to stay grounded, point to a God's-view perspective, and allow you to remain present to the discussion and those you are with.
